Located in Dallas County, Addison is a northern suburb of Dallas. While referred to as The Town of Addison, it was incorporated as a city in June of 1953. Addison didn’t get its name until 1902 when it was named after Addison Robertson, the postmaster from 1908 through 1916.
The Town of Addison has a rich history when it comes to its schools and educational system, with the city’s first school, the Addison School building, opening in 1914. In the mid-1950s, the school became part of the Dallas Independent School District, closing in 1964, and turning into a theme restaurant, called The Magic Time Machine, in the early 70s.
