Grapevine, Texas is a city located in the northeast part of Tarrant County within the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The name Grapevine comes from Grapevine Springs, the spot where General Sam Houston and his fellow Republic of Texas Commissioners camped before meeting with the leaders from 10 Native American nations culminating in the signing of a peace treaty. Following the signing of said treaty, a settlement sprung up near that location and was appropriately called Grapevine after its close proximity to Grapevine Prairie and nearby Grapevine Springs, both of which took their names from the abundance of wild grapes in the area. Grapevine was officially incorporated in 1936.
