Keller, Texas is a city located in Tarrant County and is considered one of Fort Worth’s northern suburbs. In 1881, a slew of new villages popped up along the route, one of them being Keller. The land where Keller sits today was originally purchased by druggist H.W. Black, who called the area Athol. The following year, more settlers arrived in the area and the name was changed to Keller, after railroad foreman John C. Keller.
Keller and the surrounding area started to experience an increase in residential development starting in the 1980s, with the recorded population in 1980 reading around 4,555 and going up to nearly 40,000 residents as of the 2010 census. In 2009, CNN’s Money Magazine named Keller as one of the 10 “Best Places to Live” in the U.S. Keller has also been recognized as one of the “Nation’s Richest Cities” as of 2008, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey.
