Rowlett is a city found inside two Texas counties; Dallas and Rockwall and is considered a suburb of Dallas. The city of Rowlett takes its name from Rowlett Creek, a tributary of the Trinity River which flows right into Lake Ray Hubbard. The creek got its name from Daniel Rowlett, a property owner whose land the creek ran through the middle.
Originally called “Morris” in 1880 after the local Postmaster, Austin Morris, the town was later renamed to Rowlett. The town was officially incorporated in 1952.
