The unincorporated community of Fulton, Maryland is located at the southern-most tip of Howard County. Before 1805, the area now known as Fulton was called Queen Caroline Parish, before taking on the names Hammond Directions and then Water’s Store in 1878, after postmaster Richard Waters. In 1839, Henry Iager bought nearly 108 acres of land in Fulton, turning it into Maple Lawn Farms. In 1939 Maple Lawn Farms became the home to the brand “Sho-Nuf,” currently known for their free-range turkey operations and nationally recognized in 2004 for the registered Holsteins (dairy cows) used in its day-to-day dairy operations. The Fulton-based business is still in operation today and run by the Iager family, where they continue on the tradition of “good turkeys and fast cobras.”
